PROCEDURE FOR MCP737 FIRMWARE UPGRADE

The firmware upgrade of MCP737 is a simple, but also delicate operation. Failure in procedure may  permanently damage the MCP. Follow the instruction below and avoid to upgrade the firmware without a real necessity or in a not reliable condition (unreliable power supply, unstable PC etc.). Before proceed to the upgrade check software version compatibility and update the software also if required.

1- Download firmware at http://www.cpflight.com/sito/downloads/downloads.asp ;

2- Unzip files in a temporary folder;

3- Disconnect supply from MCP; disconnect external modules and expansion board if any;

4- Insert the two links (the little black hoods that has been supplied wit the MCP) on the pin marked "FW UPD" on back of the MCP (insert vertically);

5- Connect power supply to the MCP;

6- Be sure to close all application before run the firmware upgrade application;

7- Run UPGRADE.EXE program you have unzipped in your folder and follow the procedure:


- select the com-port ( if different from 1 ); 


- Click on "Load" button and browse the mcp737xxx.mot file (where xxx represent the release number) in the folder where you have extracted the mcpfwxxx.zip file; select it and proceed;

- Click on the Erase button ( the only enabled ) to  erase the memory for programming.
At the end of erase phase a confirmation dialog will prompt; push OK to proceed:


- click on  Program.. button and confirm;


- Upgrade firmware phase is signalled by a progress bar. During the programming, the backlight led's on the MCP hardware will flash.


- At the end of program procedure a confirmation dialog will prompt, please press OK button to continue;


- click on Exit button and wait till the dialog will close;


8- Firmware has upgraded; disconnect supply from MCP

9- Remove the two links from the pin "FW UPD"

10- Reconnect external modules and expansion board if any

11- Reconnect power supply to the MCP

Run MCP_CONF and check the firmware revision on IAS/MACH display.
